Architectural design for private bungalow
3000 sq feet
This unique project for the architectural designs for a private bungalow won us the prestigious Archi Design award on the national level. The client’s brief was to create a getaway, where the family could escape their fast-paced urban lives and reconnect with nature. Although close to the sea, the plot did not have a sea view, so we used the dichotomy of inside/outside to create a sense of space and calm.
The bungalow was designed in a series of pockets of courtyard, with each space opening to landscaped areas, to bring nature into every room. Courtyards attached to the living areas encourage al fresco meals. Thoughtful sheltered decks provide a perfect place for a cup of coffee on a rainy day. Rooms open up to lawns to encourage a barefoot walk in the grass.
For the design vocabulary, we blended contemporary lines with earthy elements, creating luxury with a return-to-your-roots philosophy. Hand-finished plaster walls, Kota limestone flooring, and a timber roof please the senses with their natural feel. We also selected furniture from Bali for its relaxed style and look.
